Porterville, CA - The City of Porterville invites residents and visitors to participate in a day of patriotism and community celebration on Sunday, June 14, 2026, featuring the 45th Annual Flag Day Ceremony and an evening UFC Freedom 250 Watch Party as part of the Porterville 100/America 250 commemorations.
The 45th Annual Flag Day Celebration will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Grocery Outlet, located at 50 W. Olive Avenue in Porterville. The annual observance of National Flag Day has long been a tradition in the Porterville community.
The ceremony will include the lowering of the previous year's American flag and the raising of a new flag on the prominent flagpole located at the Grocery Outlet Shopping Center. This year's keynote speaker will be Senator Shannon Grove.
The event is organized by the Flag Day Committee, a dedicated group of community volunteers and local service clubs committed to preserving this meaningful tradition and honoring the values represented by the American flag.
"Flag Day has been a cherished tradition in Porterville for more than four decades," said Mayor Greg Meister. "As we celebrate both our nation's flag and America's upcoming 250th anniversary, we invite the entire community to join us in honoring our shared history, freedoms, and values."
In conjunction with this year's Flag Day celebration and as part of the ongoing Porterville 100/America 250 commemorations, the City of Porterville will host a UFC Freedom 250 Watch Party later that evening. The event will be held at the Veterans Memorial Building, located at 1900 W. Olive Avenue, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and will have limited capacity.
Community members are invited to gather and watch UFC Freedom 250, a nationally televised patriotic celebration taking place on the grounds of the White House as part of America's 250th anniversary observance. Complimentary hot dogs, chips, and beverages will be provided while supplies last. The evening will conclude with a brief firework display at approximately 8:45 p.m.
The City of Porterville and the Flag Day Committee invite residents and visitors alike to join in this special day of patriotism, community pride, and celebration as we honor our nation's flag and continue commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
