Porterville, CA - The City of Porterville is currently accepting nominations for its Military Banner Program, an initiative established in 2016 to honor current and former military personnel who have served the nation and community.
The Military Banner Program serves as a public expression of gratitude, paying tribute to the courage, commitment, and heroism of local service members. Selected honorees are recognized with banners displaying their name and photograph. The Banners will be installed along major streets throughout the city beginning on Memorial Day.
Family members and loved ones may submit nominations for a military hero. To qualify, the honoree must be a current or former member of the United States Armed Forces and a current or past resident of the Porterville area. If applicable, the service member must have received an honorable discharge.
The cost of each banner is $260 and is the responsibility of the sponsor. There is no fee for nominations submitted on behalf of local military personnel who were killed in action.
Nominations may be submitted online through the City of Porterville website or in person at the Parks and Leisure Services Office, located at 15 E. Thurman Ave., Suite A. A military photograph of the service member is required with each application.
