New Sequoia National Forest Supervisor Announced

PORTERVILLE, CA., December 18, 2023

ORTEVILLE, CA., December 18, 2023 — The Sequoia National Forest
welcomes Anthony (Tony) Edwards as the new Forest Supervisor. Tony will
replace Forest Supervisor Teresa Benson, who is retiring on December 30,
2023, following a 35-year career with the Federal Government.
Tony serves as the deputy forest supervisor for the Grand Mesa,
Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests in the Rocky Mountain
Region, a position he has held since 2020. Before that, he served as a
Legislative Affairs Specialist at the USDA Forest Service’s Washington
Office for 9 years.
During his career with the Forest Service, Tony has served as the Physical
Resources Forest Staff Officer for the Pike-San Isabel National Forests &
Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands and as a Civil Engineer for
the Coronado National Forest. He received his undergraduate degree in
Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona.

Tony will begin his new role as the Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument
Supervisor in mid-to-late January 2024
